Bohlen-Pierce scale - The Bohlen-Pierce scale (BP scale) is a musical scale that offers an alternative to the 12-tone equal temperament typical in Western music. It was independently discovered by Heinz Bohlen, Kees van Prooijen, and also John R.
Musical scale - In music, a scale is a set of musical notes that provides material for part or all of a musical work. Scales are typically ordered in pitch, with their ordering providing a measure of musical distance.
Serialism - Serialism is a technique for composing music that uses sets to describe musical elements, and allows the composer manipulations of those sets to create music. Serialism is often, though not universally, held to begin with Twelve-tone technique which uses a set of the 12 notes of the western chromatic scale to form a row (a nonrepeating arrangement of the 12 tones of the chromatic scale) as the unifying basis for a composition's melody, harmony, structural progressions, and variations.
Octave scale - An octave scale is named for the musical note that begins and ends a musical scale. However, though the notes are the same they remain an octave apart, or in other words, the end note is double the frequency of the beginning note.
